Well, today is the last day of summer……. what summer we hear you say???? We all know that it’s been the coldest and wettest summer in 40 years and if you’re like me, the most disappointing, not just from a weather perspective, but from a wardrobe perspective. I still have the tags on some of my maxi dresses, jumpsuits and most importantly, summer stilettos.

So as we say farewell summer, we turn to what lies ahead – Autumn. Cooler weather, more rain and shorter days. The upside to this though, is that it’s a chance to overhaul your wardrobe and yourself. By now you’ll find that most of the shops have packed away the summer stock that they haven’t been able to shift and have made way for this season’s new looks.

We watched David Jones unveil their stable of high end and designer label looks, with Myer to do the same tomorrow night. Most of the stores have launched their Autumn/Winter range already – perhaps taking advantage of this gloomy weather. If you’re keen to revamp your winter wardrobe, look out for faux fur (vests and jackets), leather (skirts, pants, dresses and tops), sparkle, feathers and a little floral ( yes, you read right). As with winter tradition – the stable of colour is mostly black, dark burgundy, burnt orange and a lot of leopard. Look for the tailored look – jackets and pants are huge this season.

Autumn/Winter is not only the opportunity to revamp your wardrobe but your personal style. Recolour those bleached blonde locks for something a little more sophisticated – go dark with chestnut brown, shoulder length with some serious bangs (think Rose Byrne – super stylish). ┬áIt’s also time to say bye bye to your spray tan and bronzer – go for more subtle tones with bright lips.
